 –Biography–

James apprenticed in the magic arts from the age of ten, during his teens he performed on stage and television and won the prestigious Guild of Magician’s Close Up Championships.

 

His success at the Magic Circle’s Young Magician of the Year Competition also led to being invited to perform in front of 3,000 international magicians at one of the largest magic events in Europe where he received the title of ‘British Junior Magical Champion’.

 

In his twenties he won more prestigious awards; the International Brotherhood of Magicians Theo Speaker Cup for the most entertaining act and twice champion of the International Brotherhood of Magicians Dittia Shield for highly skilled stage magic.

 

James has toured around the country performing at many prominent events and shows from Hotels, Restaurants, Weddings, Circuses, Galas, Conferences, Corporate, Television and Theatres, including the Magic Circle’s most highly esteemed event of the year, their annual Christmas show.

 

He has since been influenced by philosophical teachings, in particular Eastern philosophy such as Zen and the independent philosopher Jiddu Krishnamurti.

 

The root of the word Magic is Magi, translated as “Wise Man”, a person who studies sciences, physics, psychology, philosophy, spirituality and all aspects of life in order to have a positive effect on the environment and people around them.

 

Over the years James has been studying life from many different perspectives, and this process has steered him towards creating a unique style of magic coined philosophical illusion.

James has performed his new show ‘In Search of the Miraculous! An Evening of Philosophical Illusion’ at the Leicester Square Theatre and is now performing at many theatres across the UK.

 

He also performs close up magic mainly in London and often across the UK, Europe and internationally, sharing his experiences and demonstrating the mysterious and inscrutable phenomena that even the most learned scholars still cannot explain.

 

James believes magic is a serious art because it questions the very foundations of human perception.
